How FluentFi handles student information
Last reviewed: August 2026.
This page describes what FluentFi does with the information it collects. It is written in plain language for students, teachers, families, and anyone reviewing FluentFi on their behalf.
Information collected
At first sign-in, FluentFi asks each student for their name. It appears on the student's certificate and identifies their work to their course leader.
FluentFi does not ask for an email address, date of birth, home address, or phone number.
Information stored
- Written work submitted for each module
- Quiz answers and scores
- Modules completed
- Class or group membership, and the course leader responsible for it
This is held in a database operated by Supabase on FluentFi's behalf.
Information shared with other services
Some features rely on AI services operated by other companies. When a student uses those features, their words are sent to those companies in order to generate a response.
- Anthropic receives written work submitted for marking and comment. It also receives messages typed to the tutor, and the choices made in a simulation.
- OpenAI receives the text of a lesson when Listen is pressed, so it can be read aloud. If the microphone is used to ask the tutor a question, it receives that recording so speech can be converted to text. The recording is not saved.
Student names and student records are never sent to either company. They receive the work, not the identity of the person who produced it.
FluentFi uses no analytics, tracking, or advertising services. Nothing on this site tracks visitors elsewhere.
Access to student work
- The student
- Their course leader
Other students cannot see it. A course leader responsible for a different class or group cannot see it.
The research questionnaire
If enabled, students may be asked to complete a short questionnaire before and after the course. It does not count towards a grade or certificate, and participation is optional. An explanatory page precedes it, covering what is stored and who is able to determine whose answers are whose.
Requesting removal of information
Requests should be made to the course leader, who can have a student's work and quiz results removed.
Questions
Questions should be directed to the course leader, who can contact the FluentFi team.
