Why FluentFi exists

Financial confidence is one of the most useful things a young person can carry out of high school: knowing how a paycheck is taxed, what credit really costs, and how to build a plan they can keep. California now asks every high school to teach personal finance under AB 2927. FluentFi gives schools a complete course that is ready to teach, with or without a finance specialist on staff.

Money is also a subject where the same lesson lands differently for each student. In a class of thirty, every student has their own question, and their own moment when an idea finally lands. Some want to hear it explained a second way, some want to work the numbers themselves, and some would rather ask quietly. FluentFi makes room for all of it, so financial confidence is within reach of any student, whatever their school, their zip code, or their family background.

How the course works

Every module runs the same three sessions, so students always know what comes next and teachers can assign them on their own schedule.

STEP 1

Learn

A story that opens the topic, two core ideas with real cases, the vocabulary, and a short reflection.

STEP 2

Apply

Two more ideas with cases, a simulation where the student makes the decisions, and a written assignment.

STEP 3

Assess

A recap, a graded written assignment, and a quiz. Both are scored on the server, not in the browser.

What the course covers

21 modules across six units. 16 of them cover what California asks for under AB 2927. The 5 marked Beyond the Basics go further, into how a business reads its own numbers and how to work for yourself.

One course, tailored to each student

Explained the way you need it.

Ask anything, as often as you need. The tutor answers the question you actually asked, and explains it another way if the first way did not land.

Feedback on your actual work.

The AI reads what each student writes and responds to that, not a generic template.

All the required topics, in plain language.

Every personal finance topic California asks for, taught so any student can follow.

Real learning, not clicking through.

Students are graded on what they understand, and the certificate reflects genuine completion.

Who's behind FluentFi

FluentFi was created by Hania Ahmar, a doctoral researcher in financial education, and it was built to a single standard: one course, met differently by every student who takes it. Precision medicine reshaped care around the individual. FluentFi asks the same of financial education.

Our commitment

FluentFi teaches financial literacy. It is education, not financial advice. The course is mapped to the topics California requires, and where the numbers change from year to year, we point students to the official source rather than speaking as the last word.
